What's in the bag - our 2024 kit
A quick look at the cameras, lenses and tools we reach for on a typical Caffeine Films shoot.

People often ask what we shoot on. The honest answer is that the kit matters far less than the story - but a good toolkit removes friction and lets us focus on the work.
Cameras
We've shot everything from heritage films to fundraising campaigns on Blackmagic cinema cameras, prized for their colour science and dynamic range. For run-and-gun social work, a lighter mirrorless setup keeps us fast.
Glass
Fast cine primes give our films their shallow, cinematic look. A 16mm wide is a favourite for landscape and atmosphere - it's what we used on our original 'Autumn Woodland' short.
Sound and support
Good audio is half the film. We carry lavs and a shotgun mic as standard, plus a gimbal and slider for the movement that makes a film feel produced rather than just filmed.
Kit evolves every year, but the principle doesn't - buy what serves the story, then get out of its way.
